STEM Intern Job Description

Position Summary

A Baton Rouge STEM Intern will be held accountable by the Director regarding their performance and development.  Interns will play a key role in shaping and educating our BRSTEM Fellows and workshop participants by assisting them on with numerous STEM activities and experiences.  Interns will also collaborate with the Director and other interns, create academic and recreational plans and activities, and lead fellows in fun-filled projects.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Plan and oversee fellows’ activities
  • Guide and teach a range of academic and recreational activities (coding, robotics, engineering prototype, math, science projects etc.)
  • Ensure fellows safety and monitor their activities
  • Set up and ensure equipment is secure and stored properly
  • Supervise fellows during meals
  • Instruct fellows in routines and cleanup tasks
  • Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines
  • Work one-on-one with fellows
  • Instruct and organize projects (STEM, crafts, experiments, etc.)

Intern Requirements and Qualifications 

  • High school degree or equivalent; Associate’s degree, or two (2) years or more of full-time college coursework equivalent preferred
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
