Our interns are at the heart of our “Village Model,” serving as relatable mentors and technical supports for the next generation of innovators.

Job Summary

Are you a college student looking to turn your passion for STEM into real-world impact? BRSTEM is seeking enthusiastic and motivated STEM Interns to play a vital role in the delivery and enhancement of our programming.

As a STEM Intern, you will gain practical experience in STEM education outreach, program evaluation, and mentorship. You will work directly at our partner locations—including schools and community centers—to facilitate activities that make science and math come alive for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support: Provide on-site assistance to Lead Educators at partner school sites during the school day.
  • Leadership: Lead and facilitate hands-on STEM activities for after-school and community-based programming (e.g., Saturday STEM sessions).
  • Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and role model for elementary and middle school students, as well as our high school BRSTEM Fellows.
  • Program Evaluation: Assist in gathering data and feedback to help measure the impact and success of our STEM modules.
  • Logistics: Assist with the setup, inventory, and maintenance of STEM equipment, including robotics kits, electronics, and lab supplies.

Qualifications

  • Academic Standing: Must be a currently enrolled college student.
  • Major: Must be majoring in a STEM field (Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Math, IT, etc.) or Education with a focus on Math/Science.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts in a way that is engaging and easy for children to understand.
  • Attitude: High energy, reliable, and a “can-do” spirit toward solving problems and learning new technologies.
  • Background: Must be able to pass a standard background check for working with minors.
